The 2024 WG.8.3 Open Conference
It gives us great pleasure to invite you either in-person or virtually to Elche, Spain, for the 2024 Open Conference of the IFIP WG 8.3 on Decision Support. The conference entitled “Decision Systems and Analytics for the Common Good” is set to highlight “the Common Good” or shared benefit in the design and development of Decision Systems and Analytics. AI-based and automated decision systems and analysis can lead to unfair decisions and biases that undermine justice and rights of everyone. Our focus is on how DSS expertise can help the Common Good, providing a human-centered approach to decisions that affect people. This approach could be applied to decision problems in a variety of different sectors such as financial services, healthcare, hospitality, media, social management resources and many others. Recent WG8.3 Open conferences
The international conference IFIP DS 2022 21st Open Conference of the IFIP WG 8.3 on Decision Support titled “Decision Support Systems: From Data Analytics to Intuition” was held 24-26 June 2022 in Budapest, Hungary, and was hosted by Cornivus University of Budapest. The conference was set to highlight the trends in the increasing abundance of data, technological advancements, and the resulting requirement for strong research focus on the decision-making continuum from human-centric decision-making approaches to analytics-based decision-making approaches. Our focus was on how DSS expertise can support decision problems that arise across a diverse range of sectors including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, media, and many others.
The international conference IFIP DS 2020 20th Open Conference of the IFIP WG 8.3 on Decision Support “Toward enhanced risk management, shaping risk culture theory and making sound decisions under pressure” was held online on 24-26 June 2020 in Wrocław, Poland. The conference attended experts in the field of decision making and support, computer science, management, leadership, operation research, psychology, and practitioners deciding uncertain conditions.
The IFIP DSS 2018 – “The 19th Open Conference of the IFIP WG 8.3 on Decision Support Systems” was held on 13-15 June 2018 at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia.The theme of the conference was “DSS Research Delivering High Impacts to Business and Society”.
The DSS 2014 – the 17th IFIP WG 8.3 Open Conference on “DSS2.0: Supporting decision making with new technologies” was held 2-5 June 2014 at Université Pierre et Marie Curie – Campus Jussieu, Paris, France.
The DSS2012 Conference “Fusing DSS into the Fabric of the Context” was held on 28-30 June, 2012 at the Eden Beach Hotel, Anavissos, Greece.
The DSS2010 conference on “Bridging the Socio-technical gap in DSS- Challenges for the next decade” was held at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal, on July 7-10 2010.
The 2008 conference on “CDM’08 International Conference on Collaborative Decision Making” was held on 1-4 July, 2008 at the Manufacture Des Tabacs, Toulouse, France.
The 2006 conference on”Creativity and Innovation in Decision Making and Decision Support” was held on June 29 – July 1 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.
The 2004 conference on ” Decision support in an uncertain world” was held on 1-3 July in Prato, Italy.
The 2004 conference on “Decision Making and Decision Support in the Internet Age” was held on 4-7 July in Cork, Ireland.
In 17 – 19 May, 2004 the WG8.3 co-sponsored the workshop on “Knowledge Management in Electronic Government” (KMGov-2004) in Krems, Austria.
The 2000 conference on “Decision Support through Knowledge Management” was held on 9-11 July 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden.
We held a meeting of the working group in Bled, Slovenia, on 12-15 July 1998. The topic of the conference was “Context Sensitive Decision Support Systems.” The results of this conference includes many pictures and the Proceedings.
